 The Fredonia Fire Department welcomes you and would like to thank you for taking the time to consider a membership with our community's fire and rescue service.  The department is a 100% volunteer organization made up of men and women, of all ages, from our village community and surrounding areas.

As our community continues to grow; we need to continually train our current members and welcome new faces to our department.  This is to ensure that our community keeps getting the fire and rescue services they expect and deserve.

Below are some brief descriptions on the various types of memberships within the organization as well as some of the educational requirements associated with each.  At the bottom of this page you will find a printable Membership Application in .pdf format.
  • Firefighter Membership - Anyone over the age of eighteen (18) that successfully completes the Wisconsin State Certified Firefighter 1 course.  Members are also required to attend at least forty-eight hours of scheduled drills and/or training, and serve a minimum of thirty-six (36) - six hour shifts as an ambulance driver.

  • Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Membership - Anyone over the age of eighteen (18) that successfully completes the Emergency Medical Response course.  Members must also attend twenty-four (24) hourse of scheduled EMS drills and/or training, and serve a minimum of thirty (30) hours and one weekend per month on ambulance duty as an EMT.

  • Firefighter / EMS Membership - Anyone over the age of eighteen (18) that successfully completes the Wisconsin State Certified Firefighter 1 and Emergency Medical Response courses.  Members must also attend at least 48 hours of scheduled drills and/or training and serve a minimum of 30 hours and one weekend per month on ambulance duty as an EMT.

  • Driver Only Membership - Anyone over the age of eighteen (18) that successfully completes a driver training course at the fire department.  Members are also required to attend at least twenty-four (24) hours of scheduled EMS drills and/or training and serve a minimum of 30 hours and one weekend per month of ambulance duty as an ambulance driver.


 Education Requirements

Training and travel expenses paid for by the Fire Department.
  •  State Certified Firefighter 1 - Ninety-six hours of schooling at Milwaukee Area Technical College or Lakeshore Technical College.  Classes are usually held on the following: Mondays/Wenesdays, Tuesdays/Thursdays, or Saturdays starting with the spring or fall semesters.

  • Emergency Medical Responder - 80 hours of schooling at Milwaukee Area Technical College or Lakeshore Technical College.  Classes are usually held on Mondays/Wednesdays or Tuesdays/Thursdays beginning with the Spring or Fall Semesters.  20 hours of continuing education is required every two years.


Practice & Training

The Fredonia Fire Department holds its practice / training night, every Tuesday night.  Training begins at 7:00pm and is usually completed by 9:00pm.  The training schedule is below:



1st Tuesday of the month - Engineer / Operator Training
2nd Tuesday - Monthly Business Meeting
3rd Tuesday - Rescue / EMS training
4th Tuesday - Fire Training
